Taking my bike to work!

タイトル：じてつう！

The season is changing rapidly and the warmth is fading quickly.
With the temperature under 20 degrees Celcius, I took my bike out to my office.


Starting at 10:03AM, I made it to my office at 10:21! I forgot to clock my time the way back, I took a snap in front of McDonald's at 10:23PM. And one last snap back at home!

It was very pleasant going to and coming back from my office. I took my bike today because I had a reason (NOT because I was tardy, by the way!), but maybe I should take my partner once in a while for work!
Well partner, wait till Sunday! I can take you all the way to Fuchu City to see Cosmo Bulk run... if the weather permits... (50% chance of rain in Tokyo according to JMA forecast...)

季節の移り変わりは早く、温もりの衰えも早い。
２０度を下回る気温の中、職場に自転車で行った。

写真：午前１０時３分にスタートして、職場に１０時２１分に辿り着いた！帰りは時間を計るのを忘れたが、午後１０時２３分にマクドの前で一発撮影しておいた。そして家に着いて最後にもう一発！

職場との行き来はすごく気持が良かった。ある理由があったために「じてつう」をしたけど（言っておきますが、遅刻しそうだったからじゃないッスよ！）、時々相棒を職場にでも走りに連れて行った方がいいね！
相棒よ、日曜まで待ってくれ！コスモバルクが走るのを見るために府中市まで走りに行っても良いよ…。もし天気が持ったらね…。（気象庁の予報によると、５０％の確立で雨になりそう…）

By the way, it could well become a special day for the Japanese tomorrow.
The Nihon Hidankyo (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/hidankyo/nihon/english/) could be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, on this year of the 60th anniversary of the tragic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I can assure the guys making the judgements, the organization is quite eligible for the award, and it surely will help them continue on their honest and sober activities promoting peace!

ところで、あすは日本人にとって特別な日になるかも知れない。
日本被団協（ＵＲＬ）が広島と長崎の痛ましい被爆から６０周年を迎える今年のノーベル平和賞を受賞するかも知れない。
審査している連中には、この団体が賞を受け取る資格は十分にあると保証できるよ。そしてそれはきっと彼らの平和を広める真面目で地道な活動を続ける助けになることだろう！

Nobel prize tipped to go to anti-nuclear weapons efforts

Just days ahead of the announcement of this year's Nobel Peace Prize, observers say organisations campaigning against nuclear proliferation are the most likely to win the prestigious award.

With a record 199 individuals and organisations nominated for the prize this year, the list of possible laureates is long and varied, featuring such names as Irish U2 rock star Bono, the late pope John Paul II and former US secretary of state Colin Powell.

Many observers however feel this year's prize, which will be announced in Oslo on October 7, will go to a person or a group working to halt nuclear proliferation, and Nihon Hidankyo, a Japanese organisation of survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs, has been tipped as one of the favourites.

"The more I think about it the better the Nihon Hidankyo sounds," said Gunnar Soerboe, director of the Christian Michelsen Institute, a human rights research group.

The question of nuclear proliferation has been in the international spotlight over the past year, largely due to thorny negotiations in Iran and North Korea.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, which plays a key role in ensuring that nuclear reactors are not used for making weapons of mass destruction, is also on the list of possible candidates.

Other potential laureates within the anti-nuclear proliferation field are United States Senator Richard Lugar and former Senator Sam Nunn, whose Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) program works to dismantle nuclear missiles and submarines to secure fissile materials in the former Soviet Union.

The director of the Peace Research Institute (PRIO) in Oslo, Stein Toennesson has tipped the pair for the the Peace Prize for several years now, but others have said they lack the experience of personal suffering in their quest for peace and democracy that marked previous prizewinners, such as Wangari Maathai, Nelson Mandela and Aung San Suu Kyi who all served time in prison.

"Since the Committee appears in recent years to be reluctant to give the prize to high-profile politicians, Nihon Hidankyo... would be a good alternative for a prize aimed at the reduction of weapons of mass destruction" Toennesson told Agence France Presse.

The Japanese group has been nominated three times before by the International Peace Bureau, the world's oldest international peace federation, and this year it has been nominated by the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organisation.

Also speaking in favour of this year's Nobel going to Nihon Hidankyo is the fact that Japan last month marked the 60th anniversary since the devastating bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. - AFP

　今年の平和賞には百九十九の個人・団体が候補に挙がっているとされるが、ノーベル賞委員会の選考過程は極秘。今年も発表の瞬間まで受賞者について憶測が飛び交うことになりそうだ。

　 今年は広島、長崎への原子爆弾投下から六十年の節目の年であることから、オスロの国際平和研究所は、米国による旧ソ連の大量破壊兵器廃棄事業「ナン・ ルーガー計画」を主導してきたルーガー米上院議員（７３）とナン元上院議員（６７）を有力候補とし、日本原水爆被害者団体協議会（被団協）代表委員の山口 仙二氏（７４）＝長崎県＝が選ばれる可能性があるとみている。

　一九七五年のサハロフ博士以降、八五年に「核戦争防止医師会議」、九五年 には核兵器廃棄を求める科学者組織「パグウォッシュ会議」と創立者のロートブ ラット氏（今年八月死去）が受賞するなど、十年ごとに核問題に関連する受賞者が続いていることも二候補に注目した理由という。

　スマトラ 沖地震の大津波では復興活動を行う非政府組織（ＮＧＯ）オックスファム（本部ロンドン）や、赤十字国際委員会（本部ジュネーブ）なども有力視。 インドネシア・アチェ州の独立紛争で和平を仲介したフィンランドのアハティサーリ前大統領（６８）も取りざたされている。
