One wild night!

Taking my time to work on the coming typhoon, I was completely caught off guard when a localized downpour raged the streets of south Kanto, especilly in the western wards of Tokyo.
A maximum 112mm/hr rain was recorded in Suginami from 8:50pm to 9:50pm last night, and the rain continued onto a couple of hours after midnight. A team of reporters from my department were sent to the troubled areas and many others rushed to the phones to get informations of damages in the flooded areas.
Many houses were flooded and left powerless for several hours, and I was a little concerned that I also live in a low-lying district near the Kandagawa River in Nakano Ward.

...I was relieved to see my car safe and the area clean, as I returned home from overnight duty.

Went to bed a little before the evening news and woke up late at night. Now the typhoon is showing its ferocity in western Japan.
I'll take a rest for a while and return back to my battlefield tomorrow!

台風の仕事の方に集中してたら、南関東の街々、特に２３区の西部に集中豪雨が猛威を振るい始め、完ぺきに裏をかかれた。
最大で１時間に１１２ミリという雨が杉並で午後８時５０分から９時５０分まで観測されて、雨は未明まで続いた。うちの部の取材チームが被害を受けたところに出されたほか、たくさんの記者たちが電話に駆け付けて、浸水した地域の被害情報を集めた。
たくさんの家が浸水の被害を受けて、数時間もの間、停電となった。中野区の神田川近くの低地に住んでいるから少し不安になった。

…泊まり勤務から帰宅したら、車も大丈夫で付近はきれいだったからホッとした。

夕方のニュースの少し前に床について、夜遅くに目が覚めた。今、台風は西日本で猛威を振っている。
少しだけ休んで、明日また戦場に戻らねば！
