Fifth day...

タイトル：５日目…

After joining my parents at Haneda, we flew in to Kushiro Airport of southeastern Hokkaido.
After renting a Honda Accord, we were ready to go just before noon!

We took our time to stroll around the Kushiro area...

1) Kushiro Marsh from the west

fertile and grandiose!

2) Washo Ichiba (Market)

We had lunch at this central market of Kushiro City, where we get to choose which dish we want to eat on a rice bowl.
The dishes are of course the freshly caught fishes and delicious seafood.

3) Kushiro Marsh (from the east)

In the afternoon we started by taking an adventurous unpaved road to get to a view point taking another look at the magnificent green marsh.

4) Mashu Lake ("MASHUKO")
We then headed for the main dish today.

This lake created through volcanic activities milleniums ago is called by the Ainu, the aborigines of Hokkaido, the "Kamuitoh" meaning the "Lake of God".

Mashu Lake is given its divinity because of its difficulty to take a look at its surface as it’s usually covered with fog. But today, we were very lucky to catch a clear view of it, and we were satisfied after seeing the fog cover the lake once again after the less-than-an-hour stay there.
(...though afterwards I learned that the saying is that "anyone who sees the surface of the lake marries late in life"... oh well, too bad for me! At least I can get married if it's true! Ha ha!)

5) Akan Lake ("AKANKO")
We arrived at the hotel set along the this lake at around six in the evening.

A nice lengthy time taking a bath at the spa, and nice food at the buffet.

So what's up next... can't wait for tomorrow!!

羽田で両親と合流して、北海道の南東部にある釧路空港に飛んだ。
ホンダ・アコードをレンタカーして、ほぼ正午前には準備が整った！

とりあえず釧路エリアをうろうろすることにした…。

１）釧路湿原　西から
写真：とにかく肥沃で雄大だ

２）和商市場
写真：釧路市のこの中央市場で昼食を頂いた。白飯丼に食べたいおかずを乗っけられる。
おかずは勿論、獲ってきたばかりの新鮮な魚と絶品のシーフード。

３）釧路湿原　東から
写真：午後は思い切って舗装されていない道に入って、もう１回、壮大な緑の湿原を見るため、ある展望ポイントに行くことから始めた。

４）摩周湖
そしてきょうのメインディッシュを目指した。

写真：この湖は何十世紀も前の火山活動で作られたもので、北海道の原住民たちのアイヌ族に「神の湖」という意味の「カムイトー」と呼ばれていた。

摩周湖に神性が与えられたのは、いつも霧に隠れてその表面を見ることが難しいからだ。でも今日はすごくラッキーなことにくっきりとその眺望を見ることができた。さらに１時間弱の滞在中に、湖が再び霧に隠れたので、満足だった。
（…でも後で知ったんだけど、言い伝えでは「この湖の表面を見たものは晩婚だ」そうな…。うーん、そりゃ残念だ！でも本当だとしても、いつか結婚はできるってことだな！わはは！）

５）阿寒湖
この湖沿いのホテルに夕方６時頃に到着した。

写真：温泉でゆっくりと心地よく過ごして、美味い料理をビュッフェで。

さぁ、次はなんだ…明日が待ち遠しい！！

　せっかく湖面が見られたのに、
　不吉な言い伝えがあるとは。
　いや、別に不吉じゃないか。
　今、結婚しても昔的には晩婚なんだし。
　本当に結婚しても良いと思う人と
　結婚することは不吉じゃないよな。
　ちなみに言い伝えが「悪い」ニュアンスで
　言い伝えられているふしは無かったので！
