Back to reality...

タイトル：現実に戻って…

First day back at work! And I worked till late at night to finish several jobs I'd left over before my vacation.

Almost everybody in our department seemed restless as tomorrow will be the start of the campaigning period of the general election.
I'm not entirely involved in the reporting team of the election, but I will become a devoted participant when the voting day nears, because of the knowledge I have about backing up election reporting.
Till it's time to go on stage, I'll try to retain my energy so I won't collapse like I did on July 3rd...

Today, the Japanese media also had shown great interest in the greatest hurricane in recent history attacking Louisiana and its vicinities.
All my eyes were on CNN, which was reporting in a very different way than our's in Japan covering typhoons.

Learned a great deal about hurricane coverage that we can try for ourselves too for typhoon coverage!!

By the way I didn't know the hurricanes in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico were named in alphabetical order, with a male and female's name alternately!
...and that "hurricane" comes from the Carib god of evil, "Hurican"!

仕事に戻って最初の日だ！休暇前から残ってたいくつかの仕事を片づけようと、遅くまで働いた。

うちの部はほとんどの人たちがそわそわしているように見えた。明日から総選挙の選挙期間が始まるからね。
選挙の取材チームに、完全に関わってる訳じゃないけど、投票日が近づいてくると自分も献身的な参加者になるつまりだ。選挙報道を支えるノウハウを持っているからね。
舞台に上がる前に、また７月３日みたいにぶっ倒れないように気力を保っておかないと…。（７月３日に書いたように）

きょうは日本のメディアもルイジアナとその周辺を襲った史上最大のハリケーンに注目していた。
とにかくＣＮＮに見入ってしまった。自分たちが日本で行っている台風報道とはかなり違う内容の報道だった。

写真：ハリケーン報道についてたくさん学ぶことができた。台風報道にも応用できそうなものもあった！！

ところで、大西洋とメキシコ湾のハリケーンはＡＢＣ順に名付けられてるとは知らなかった。男女の名前を交互で使ってる！
…そして「ハリケーン」ってカリブの悪魔神の「フリカン」から来てるんだって！

　restがlessで眠れないとか休めないという意味も。
　休まずに動き回っている様子から
　そわそわしたという意味で一番使われている。
　落ち着かない様子のときってなんで
　動き回るんだろう。別に動き回っても
　何もならないのにね…。人間って不思議！
