Election Day!!

started out the day by voting! more than ten people on line at 7AM!!

Covering elections is a different story for me. To be exact, I use the different parts of my brain that I don't use so oftenly, and it also becomes a little physical... if you count in the fact I run around like crazy.
Though my interests to the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly is uncomaparable to that to the National Diet, the job I'm in charged of is the same. First of all, the exit poll, which is important for the media, as it's the only way we can presume the electorate's behavior. Secondly, the vote count. Not the one we do early on to estimate how the outcome of the election will become, as the job for the night is taking in every information that will help to see who will become the "surely elected".

In the afternoon, my teeth ache started, and after being attacked many times by drowsiness, every parts of my body was in pain at night. Some kind of killer bee was stinging my teeth, and my head was heavy as iron, and my legs were having cramps... Gulping down aspirins for pain relief, I ran around with all I've got... but my gasoline ran out at around eleven...

I've never been so tired in my reporter's life except once or twice participating in special programs or being dragged into the reporting of a great crime or disaster...
At least I learned a great deal today. As I always tend to think I can do anything on my own, I've had so many help from others this night and I felt strongly I must ask for help accordingly to fulfill my mission. Without the help I had today, I would've been a complete fool.

タイトル：選挙の日！！

写真：投票することで一日が始まった！朝７時には１０人以上が並んでた！！

選挙報道は俺にとっては違う世界の話だ。正確に言うと、頭の普段はあまり使わないところを使い、そして少しフィジカルになる…狂ったように走り回ることも入れると。
東 京都議会への関心は国会とは比べものにならないけど、やる仕事は一緒なんだよね。まずは出口調査。これはメディアにとって重要だ。有権者の行動を読み取 るにはこれしか方法が無いんだから。それと次に票を数えること。選挙結果がどうなるのか予想する票読みのことではなく、誰が「当選確実」になるか見るため に必要な情報をすべて取り込むこと。これが夜に入ってからの仕事だ。

午後になって歯の痛みが始まり、眠気にも何度も襲われた後、夜は体中 が痛かった。何か殺人蜂のようなものが歯を刺しまくってるし、頭は鉄のように重く、足 もひきつけを起こしていた。鎮痛のためにアスピリンを飲みまくって、持てる力のすべてを使って走り回った…。でも１１時ぐらいにガソリンが切れた…。

記者人生でこれ以上に疲れたことは一度か二度ぐらいしかない。特番に関わっているか、大事件か大災害の報道に巻き込まれたときぐらいだろう…。
少 なくとも、きょうはたくさんのことを学んだ。いつもは自分の力で、どんなことでもできると思いがちだが、この夜は色んな助けをもらった。そして自分の任 務を果たすためには、それに応じて助けを求めるべきなんだと強く感じた。きょうのような助けが無かったら、俺は思いっきり愚か者になっていたに違いない。
ほんとに感謝！！

　東京都では、今回の選挙で有権者が初めて
　１千万人を超えた。
　しかし、投票率は２番目に低かった。
　選挙への関心は低くなるばかり。
　魅力的な候補がいないということか…。
　あ、でも頑張って欲しい人もいるから
　そんなこと言っちゃいけないな！
