The temperature rose well over 35 degrees today as warm winds blew in from the northwest causing a föhn phenomenon.
As I woke up before six in the morning to go to the and Shinkansen terminal of Tokyo Station and Haneda Airport to say farewell to five of my colleagues setting out for their new assigned posts, it was broiling already...

Back in my office before ten, after taking care of the dying typhoon, we decided to have some eels for lunch to recharge some stamina. Tomorrow is "Doyo no ushi no hi", the Midsummer Day of the Ox, which is supposed to be one of the hottest days in the summer and we traditionally eat eels known for being fully equipped with Vitamin A, which are nutritious to regain our strength. We thought all the stores will be filled with customers tomorrow, so we took an early start to enjoy the delicious eels. The price we paid was fair enough!

北西の温かい風が吹き付けてフェーン現象が発生して、気温は余裕で３５度を超えた。
朝６時前に起きて、東京駅の新幹線のホームと羽田空港に行って新任地に赴く同僚たちを見送った。そのときにすでに蒸していた…。

１０時前に職場に戻って、死にゆく台風の相手をしたあと、昼食に鰻を食べて、スタミナを再充填することにした。明日は「土用の丑の日」という真夏の丑の日で、夏で最も暑い日になるはずの日。伝統的にビタミンＡたっぷりで力を回復するほど栄養があると知られる鰻を食べる。あすは客でどの店も一杯になると思ったんで、一歩先に美味しい鰻を楽しむことに。払った代金は十分元が取れるものだったよ！
