as I was returning to my office, reports of the Tokyo Stock Exchange's system being in the mud of malfunction disrupting the trading, came into my mobile...
写真：職場に戻る途中、東証のシステムが故障の泥沼状態に陥って取り引きを妨げているという情報が携帯に入ってきた…

As a reporter covering the possible endangers of the stock exchange halting when a severe quake hits the Metropolitan area, it wasn't a fire on the opposite bank (=a Japanese saying meaning "having nothing to do with the one concerned).
We have to analyze if it was OK to have such malfunctions when a disaster hits, and if it ain't a serious matter, we shouldn't raise our eyebrows even if we have no way of trading after any disasters...

激しい地震が首都圏を襲ったときに証券取引が停止する危険性について取材をしたことがある記者として対岸の火事ではない。
災害が起きたときにそのような故障があっても大丈夫なのか検証をしないといけないし、もしそれほど重大なことではないのなら、災害が起きて取引をする方法が無くなっても、そんなに目くじらを立てなくても良いのかも知れない。

　取材をしたことがある。
　９１１のＮＹＳＥも数日間取り引きが
　できなかったように、
　東京でも取り引きが当分できなくなる
　可能性はあるだろう。
　しかし、そんな非常時に株を買う人は
　いるだろうか。
　いや、火事場だから売り買いをする人は
　いるのだろう。
　立派な家に住んで、何の被害も受けてない
　金持ちたちが…。
