Eventful...

タイトル：出来事がたくさん…

An early start!
Early enough, that I probably only had about four hours of sleep when I felt a weak tremor and woke up having a bad hunch that some kind of tsunami warning would be announced...


BINGO! the JMA announced a tsunami alert seven minutes after the 6:39AM quake.
the quake was a fairly large M7.1 hitting way out in the Pacific Ocean east of the Tohoku area with only mild shakes.

早いスタート！
早すぎて、たぶん４時間ぐらいしか寝てないんじゃないか。ある弱い揺れを感じて、目が覚めたときには。何か悪い予感がした。たぶん何らかの津波警報が出るんじゃないかって。

画像：当たり！気象庁が午前６時３９分の地震の７分後に津波注意を発表した。
地震は大きめのマグニチュード７．１で東北地方の東方からかなり離れた太平洋で起きて、揺れはあまり強くなかった。

Very sleepy... and after spending some time in Kasumigaseki, I went back to my office. Almost everybody in my workplace was concentrating on the biggest event for the royal family this year.


almost all the channels focused on Princess Sayako's wedding...

I'm not a royal family devotee thinking about how much we taxpayers are devoting to this event...
But just for now, I admit I'd enjoy the news with happy topics like this rather than bad ones...

すっごくねみぃ…そして霞ヶ関で少し時間を過ごした後、職場に戻った。仕事場のほとんどみんなが皇族にとって一番大きいイベントに集中していた。

写真：ほとんどのチャンネルが清子妃の結婚式に焦点を当てていた…

俺は皇族の熱心な支持者ではない。このイベントにどれだけ我々の税金が注ぎ込まれているのかと思うと…
でも今はこういう明るいトピックスの方が悪いものよりよっぽど楽しめるということだけは認めるよ…。

While my office was still in the middle of the feverish excitement with enough heat, I went out to have a splendid dinner with my colleague.

I finished the day going back to Kasumigaseki at around 11PM, as I had arranged to meet some bureaucrats working surely over midnight...
Getting what I needed, I disappeared into the night...

まだ職場が熱気たっぷりに盛り上がっている間に同僚と美味い晩飯を食べに出た。

また夜の１１時頃に霞ヶ関に戻って日を終えた。夜中ぢゅう働くであろう官僚の人たちのところに顔を出す約束をしていたから…。
必要なものを手に入れて、夜の中消えていった…。

hunch 直感、予感、虫の知らせ
　slangですね。
　hunch自体はこぶや固まりのことを指す。
　play one's hunchは直感で行動する意味。
　悪い予感という意味でbad hunchと使った。
　他の表現として単純に
　"have a bad feeling about..."てのも。
　映画やＴＶシリーズでよく
　女の子が「イヤな予感がするわぁ」って
　意味で"I have a bad feeling about this..."
　と言うと、大抵その直後に、
　本当に悪いことが起きます。
