It was a rainy day, and as I went to Fuchu, I had to think what influence it will have on the young colts.
雨降りな日。府中に向かいながら、若い牡馬たちにどのような影響があるのか考えねばならなかった。

芝の状態は「良」のままで、雨が降ろうが降らまいが、結果は同じだったかも…。
１番人気のフサイチリシャールのエンジンは平凡以下で６着に終わった…。
そして３番人気のロジックと武豊がＮＨＫマイルカップ（ＧⅠ）を獲得。

Majesty's last victory was on a yielding turf and ever since, the results were disappointing...
but today...
It was raining strong in the west and the turf was announced at the yielding condition. "Yes! Majesty has a chance!" I thought. And the quinella and trifecta tickets I secured saved me!
Well, this time I was lucky it rained...

でも京都で、１０頭中８番人気でしか無かった俺たちの馬ロードマジェスティがメーンレースの都大路ステークスを獲った。

マジェスティの最後の勝利は重馬場の芝。それ以来、結果は期待はずれ…
でも今日は…
西では雨が強く降ってて芝は重馬場と発表されていた。「よし！マジェスティの目があるぞ！」と思った。そしてキープしていた馬連と３連単が俺を救った！
まぁ、今回は雨に救われたな…。
ありがとうマジェスティよ！

"yielding" 「重馬場」
　yieldingの元々の意味は
　辞書によると、「曲がりやすい、
　しなやかな、影響を受けやすい、
　従順な」などとなっている。
　海外の競馬に詳しく無いので、
　どのような表現を使ってるのかは
　わからんが、ＪＲＡの英語サイトによると、
　日本の競馬場の良→稍重→重→不良は
　芝(Turf)はFirm→Good→Yielding→Soft、
　ダート(Dirt)はStandard→Good→Muddy
　→Sloppyという訳になっている。
　海外のサイトを見ると、Good to Firmとか
　Yielding to Softとかいった中間ランクも
　あるようだ。日本も雨が降ってたのに、
　「良」馬場発表だと、重くさい良だとか、
　重に近い稍重だとかよく言いますが、
　まぁ、やっぱし重馬場の方が合う馬って
　いるんですねぇ。雨が嫌いな俺は分からんが、
　泥の中で泥んこになって遊ぶのが
　楽しいと思う気持ちも分からんでも無い。
　とにかくロードマジェスティは次も雨の時は買いだ！
