Another day gone but I had one step forward at work... phew... but still so far away from completing my research... hmm... am I really going to nail this one?
また一日過ぎたが仕事で一歩前進した…ふー…でもまだリサーチを終わらせるのは遠い先だ…。うーん…本当に今回の話を確実にゲットすることができるのか？

The 18 colts running on Sunday are the best 18 horses of their age... so tough to norrow it down to the only one!

From the middle of the week, I shift to what the papers write about the conditions of the horses.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are training days for horses running at JRA tracks

The papers compete by marking grades of the training by their own criteria.

Let's see how the 8 horses left have been graded...
(the grades are from three different evening papers)

日曜に走る１８頭は同期の中のベストな１８頭…１頭に絞り込むなんて厳しいよ！
週の途中から、馬の状態について書いている新聞の情報にシフトする。
写真：水曜と木曜はＪＲＡの競馬場で走る馬の調教日。
新聞は独自の基準で調教の評価をして競い合う。
残った８頭がどのように評価されたか見てみよう…。

Admire Moon and Toho Alan both only have "B"s. Which one should I cut? The papers say Moon was trained for a strong 7 furlongs at the Wood Chip course in Ritto finishing firmly. On the other hand, Alan ran the sloping course but leaned on to his left near the finish.
The split decision for Dream Passport will leave his average at "B", but the trainer says he's been trained strongly on Saturday, so I'll leave him in the list.
Therefore... Toho Alan is the goner today.

The colts should run at their best condition, and right now, training is the only index to make a decision!
アドマイヤムーンとトーホーアランは「Ｂ」しかない。どっちを切ろうか？新聞によるとムーンは栗東のウッドチップコースで７ハロンを強く追ってしっかりとした足取りでゴールしたという。一方、アランは販路で走ったがフィニッシュ近くで左にもたれた。
別れた評価でドリームパスポートの平均は「Ｂ」となる。でも調教師は土曜日に強く調教されていると言ってるし、リストに残しておくか。
ということで…トーホーアランがきょうの消しだな。
若駒たちはベストな状態で走るべきだ。そして現時点で調教がその判断をするための唯一の指標だ！
