Today I took the usual route to Fuchu taking the Okubo Road, the Itsukaichi Kaido Avenue, Inokashira Road, Hitomi Kaido Avenue, Touhachi Street, and at last the Koganei Kaido Avenue. It took a fair enough an hour and thirty five minutes including a seven minute break in Inokashira Park.
BUT It was another day of defeat at the destination, as the horses I was cheering for were swept by Yutaka Take. Again! I don't wanna discuss this anymore. Some info will be on the pictures below.
There was another reason I bothered to go to the race course as I wanted to check out the new main stand which had only opened this weekend. The stand was all ready for the coming up Nippon Derby! It was very beautiful and yes, my concentration might have been a little reduced because of me being a curious about the new spots!
With the wind against me and getting a little chilly, I headed back to my office in just an hour and a half without a rest. After doing some business, another twenty minute ride back home.
OK. It was another terrible day at the race cource, but you know I'll just think I've payed some money for a spectacular cycling tour!!
タイトル：敗北への道…
きょうはあまりにも快適な日だったので、マウンテンバイクを走らせてやることにした。目標は２０キロ・１２マイルほど離れた（直線距離で）府中市にある東京競馬場に決定。数字だけ聞くとあんまり遠く感じないよね。京王線の急行だと新宿から府中まで２０分程度だし。
きょうはいつものルートで府中に向かった。大久保通りから五日市街道、井の頭通り、人見街道、東八道路、そして最後に小金井街道。１時間３５分かかった が、井の頭公園での７分間の休みを入れればまずまずのタイムだ。しかぁーし、目的地ではまた敗北の日だった。応援していた馬は武豊にあっさりやられた。ま ただよ！もうこの話はしたくない。下の写真にある程度のことは書いておくからさ。
わざわざ競馬場に行ったのにはもう１つ理由があった。今週末オープンしたばっかりの新スタンドを見に行きたかったからだ。スタンドはもうすぐやってくる日 本ダービーに向けてすっかり準備万端だった。すごくきれいで。そうだ。集中力がそれで少しそがれたのかも知れないよ。新しいところに目をとられてたから さー！
向かい風にさらされ、少し肌寒くなる中、会社に向かった。休み無し、１時間半ちょうどで着いた。少し仕事を片づけてさらに２０分かけて家に帰った。
よし。競馬場ではまた最悪な日だったけど、とりあえず爽快なサイクリングツアーのためにお金を払ったんだと思うことにしよう！！

avenue 大通り、大街路
街道のことをavenueとしたが、大久保通りの通りはroadでいいのか、
東八道路の道路はstreetでいいのか、正直分かりません…。
走ってみた感じでアメリカならどのレベルになるか考えて訳してみた。
しかし、アメリカでも大きいavenueがあったり、
小さいavenueがあったりする。
青梅街道やきょうの帰り道に使った甲州街道は大きめだけど、
五日市街道や人見街道は小さいよなぁ。
うーん。アメリカでは何となく、
Freeway＞Highway＞Expressway＞Parkway＞Boulevard＞Avenue＞
Street＞Road＞Strait,Court,Terrace,Circleなどなど
という順番になってる気がするんだけど。あくまでも感じだけど…。
でもアメリカの家があったThe Dalles Avenueってどう考えても
街道よりかなり小さいよなぁ。
やっぱし翻訳って難しいや！
