◆Court seen likely to reject appeal in retrial of Yokohama Incident
TOKYO, Nov. 9 KYODO
The first hearing in the appeals trial of five now-deceased men convicted in the so-called Yokohama Incident, one of the worst cases of suppression of journalists during World War II, was held Thursday at the Tokyo High Court and ended with the prospect of the appeal's rejection.
Presiding Judge Fumihiro Abe indicated that the trial will be concluded without reinvestigating evidence presented in the court of first instance, a move expected to lead to the rejection of the defendants' appeal.
I had to cover the press conference of this unique trial, but honestly, I didn't understand half of what the speakers were saying...
