スピードスケートのショートトラック競技を見て男子５００㍍と女子１０００㍍で日本人スケーターが２人ともＡ決勝に進出できなかったことを確認したあと、ようやく５時ごろにベッドに入った…。

正午まで起きれず、ササッと支度をして東へ向かった…。

とっても雨降りで、前に行った馬の多くが勝った。ウエットなコースだと後ろから来るのはすごく難しいから…。
After spending a "loser's day" at Chiba, I went to Tameike-Sanno to attend a wedding party to congratulate my former elder collegue working together at Kobe, who is now on his road to success as a scholar after quitting our company. I was very surprised to find out my elder colleague who doesn't hide being surprised himself that he was going to marry a girl. More surprising was the fact they were having a "dekichatta kekkon" (=shotgun marriage), with a life already dwelling in the bride's body! Very surprised, I was!!
Many of my collegues together from my working days at Kobe gathered to celebrate and we went out to drink at ANA Hotel of Akasaka.
Another pleasant reunion, it was!!
千葉で「負け犬の日」を過ごしたあと、神戸で一緒に働いたあと、今はうちを辞めて、学者街道を前進している元先輩colleagueを祝う結婚パーティーに出席するために溜池山王へ。自分でも驚きを隠せないその先輩が結婚すると知ったときは、すごく驚いた。もっと驚いたのは、もう奥さんの中に生命が宿っているという「できちゃった結婚」になるということ！とっても驚いたさ、おいら！！
神戸時代の同僚たちの多くがお祝いに駆け付けたんで、赤坂の全日空ホテルに飲みに行った。
また一つ楽しい同窓会だったね！！

オヤジさんがショットガンで男をシメる
という架空の設定から生まれた言葉らしい。

わが家も弟がshotgun weddingを挙げたし、
ましてや、嫁はんより子供が欲しいな…
な～んて恐ろしいことを考えちゃうと
shotgun marriage here we come!ってノリですが…。
でも、やっぱし、結婚式のことを考えると、
ちょっと格好悪いかな…。
