As Horiemon's trial was canceled today, it was a slowly moving day compared to yesterday... some room to breathe...

きょうはホリエモンの公判は中止になり、昨日に比べてゆっくりと時間が流れる日だった…少しだけ息がつけた…

Triggered by the car accident last month at Fukuoka caused by a drunk city official killing 3 children, drink and drive is finally reaching a point where everybody recognizes as a major crime. Still so many people take the wheels thinking they have only minutes to drive back home. "I won't be the one" kinda mistake is the beginning of a major tragedy.
I've learned those "you drink and drive, you lose" stories, but I never drink and drive just because I never want to be the wrongdoer, especially a murderer. I don't want to kill myself nor be killed by a drunk driver either...

it's not just a breach of traffic rules anymore... it's a crime!

先月、福岡で酔っぱらった市の職員が３人の子供を死なせた交通事故をきっかけに、飲酒運転はようやく重大犯罪だと認識されるようになったようだ。それなのに家まで数分だとたくさんの人が運転をしてしまう。「俺は大丈夫だから」という感じの誤認が大惨事のきっかけだ。
「飲んで運転したら、負けだよ」って感じの話はたくさん学んだけど、俺は絶対に飲酒運転をしないのは、加害者になりたくないからだ。特に殺人者だけには。自分を殺したくないし、飲酒運転で殺されたくもない…。

これが流れだぜ、みんな！クビにされるだぜ！！
もう交通法規の違反ってもんじゃないんだよ…犯罪なんだよ！

　色々言い換えはあるが、
　アメリカで免許を取った時に
　ずっと使っていたのは"drink 'n' drive"だ。
　いわゆる交通標語的に繰り返し
　しちゃダメだと言われる。
　でもするヤツはする。
　ちょうど高校の時にdrink and driveで
　同級生が殺された（全然親しくない人だけど）
　ことを聞いて、絶対にやっちゃいかんなと
　思ったことがある。やったらいかんなって
　実感しない限り、こういうのってみんな
　止めないよね。どんな不義・不忠、犯罪も
　同じことなんだろうけどね。
　人が悲しむことにつながることは
　したくないね。止めといた方がいいよ！
