Bases loaded, one out, Team USA reliever Joe Nathan up to his 5 o'clock shadow in trouble, and Japanese third baseman Akinori Iwamura lofts a shallow fly to left field. Tsuyoshi Nishioka tags up at third and races home with the crucial go-ahead run, easily beating Randy Winn's off-target throw.
Catcher Brian Schneider fires a throw back to Derek Jeter, covering third, Team USA manager Buck Martinez comes out of the dugout for a chat with plate umpire Bob Davidson and ... out!
Out?
But to the naked eye it looked like Nishioka's tag was good.

日曜にワイルドに面白いワールド・ベースボール・クラシックの第２次ラウンドでチームＵＳＡが劣勢からこっそり４対３で日本から勝利を奪った試合を見たあと、これしか結論は有り得ないと思った。
アメリカの奴らから中古車を絶対に買っちゃいけないってこと。
もし奴らが熱帯でスワンプランドどっかを売ろうとしたら、とにかく逃げろって。

日本が３対３になった８回にいかさまをされたなんて言ってる訳じゃなくて、でも…
日本はいかさまをされたんだよ。
満塁で、一死。チームＵＳＡのリリーフはお帰りの時間って感じでやばくて、日本の三塁手の岩村明憲が浅いフライをフラッとレフトに上げた。西岡剛が三塁からタッチアップしてホームに走り込んで、貴重な勝ち越し点を入れた。ランディー・ウインの的が外れた返球より楽々先着した。
キャッチャーのブライアン・シュナイダーが三塁に入ったデレック・ジーターに素早くボールを返して、チームＵＳＡのバック・マルチネス監督がダグアウトから出てきて、本塁審判のボブ・デビッドソンと雑談をしたと思ったら…アウト！

でも裸眼で見ていても西岡のタッチアップは大丈夫だったように見えたぞ。
