I was abruptly awaken by a ringing phone from my boss. It was my fault I'd gone to bed at way past five in the morning, and I was half asleep hearing the weather satellite Himawari was having malfunctions from early morning.
Though with only a couple of hours of sleep, I got myself together and went to the JMA at around ten to hear what was going on. With communication troubles way up in space, the satellite couldn't take pictures for about six hours, and it finally resumed its service at half an hour past midday.
Fortunately the typhoon was still far from the Izu Islands and the Kanto area. Though pictures from the satellite is a necessity for serious typhoon forecasts, it's hard to criticize the guys at JMA as I think any kind of malfuncitons can happen way out their in space, and they didn't try to conceal the trouble.
BUT personally, being robbed of my sleep... "C'mon guys! Give me a break!" was the feeling inside my sleepy heart...

After getting back home, I tried to stay awake, but failed to at around three. I just woke up and I'm going to participate in a drinking party with the younger tonight. Hope I don't fall asleep... Zzz... Oh, no... I gotta go!
出し抜けに上司からの電話で目を覚まされた。５時をかなり過ぎて床に入ったのは俺の責任だが、早朝から気象衛星ひまわりが故障しているということを聞いている間も半分眠っていた。
数時間しか寝ていなかったが、とりあえず体勢を立て直して１０時頃に気象庁に行って、何が起きているのか聞きに行った。はるか上の宇宙で通信トラブルがあったために衛星は６時間ほど画像を撮影することができず、ようやく正午から３０分経った頃に運用が再開された。
幸いにも台風はまだ伊豆諸島と関東地方のはるか遠くにあった。衛星からの画像はマジな台風予報には欠かせないが、気象庁の連中を批判しても仕方がない。宇宙の彼方ではどんな故障が起きても不思議じゃないし、そういうトラブルを隠すつもりは無かったようだから。
でも個人的には睡眠を奪われただけに…。「頼むぜ！勘弁してくれよ！」っていうのが眠そうな自分の本音でした…。

家に戻って、起きとこうと思ったが、３時頃に断念。さっき起きたところで、これから若い連中と夜の飲み会に参加しにいく。寝ちゃわなければいいんだけど…。ぐー…。おっ、ヤバ…。行かなきゃ！

今回はそんな素振りは全く無かった。
