The SS empire still rules...

I was in front of the goal of Nakayama Race Cource once again just like ten years ago when I was in my training period in Tokyo as a freshman.
The first generation of the Sunday Silence bred colts won that day though it was yet to know how the greatest breeding sire will do all the way through its latter years.
A decade later today, an undefeated son of SS has kicked ass in the Satsuki Sho winning without a sweat.
I was there mainly to cheer for the grandsons of the Almighty as No. 1 Admire Fuji is the son of Admire Vega, one of many SS made Derby horse and No. 18 Dance In The More, a son of another SS bred classic race winner Dance In The Dark.
But as expected the race ended up again with the SS empire still at reign.
The 13 to 10 odds favorite Deep Impact and the champion jockey Yutaka Take danced the way to victory leaving the others way behind.
The second and third were also Sunday Silence's kids as the unworthy grandson Fuji only getting to the fifth spot.
Losing all my earnings from yesterday's races, I was already thinking about the Derby on my way home.
But today's winner will probably secure the highest crown as SS's greatest masterpiece only with one more generation left after its death in 2002.
Maybe the only way the half-brother sires can flourish is to pray that their son's can beat this monster at least once...

中山競馬場のゴール前に再び陣取った。新人として東京で研修生をやっていた10年前のように。
その日はサンデーサイレンスの第一世代が勝ったが、その大種牡馬が後年にかけてどのような成功を得るのかまだ分からなかった。
10年後、無敗のＳＳ（サンデーサイレンス）産駒が皐月賞で汗をかくことなく圧勝した。
現場に駆けつけたのは全能なる神の孫たちを応援するのが一番の理由だった。１番のアドマイヤフジは数あるＳＳ産駒のダービー馬アドマイヤベガの仔で、１８番のダンスインザモアもクラシックウイナーのＳＳ産駒ダンスインザダークの仔だ。
しかし、予想通りレースではまたしてもＳＳ帝国の支配が続いた。
１．３倍の人気だったディープインパクトとチャンピオンジョッキーの武豊は踊るように後続を置き去りにして勝った。
２着も３着もサンデーサイレンスの仔たちで、不肖の孫フジは５着がやっとだった。
昨日のレースの儲けをすべてはき出し、帰り際はもうダービーのことを考えていた。
しかし、今日の勝ち馬がたぶんＳＳの最高傑作として最高位を確保するだろう。2002年の（ＳＳの）落命でもう１世代しか残ってないだけに。
半兄の種牡馬たちが活躍できるようになるためには自分の仔たちが１回でもいいからこの怪物を倒すことを祈るしかないのかも知れない。
