After writing my diary, I really did jump into my bed right after halftime of the Nippon-Suisse match, but my eyes were still on the TV screen, hoping for a miracle...
日記を書いた後、日本－スイス戦のハーフタイムの直後に、本当にベッドに潜り込んだんだけど、まだテレビの画面を見てしまって、奇跡が起きないかと期待してた…。

Sadly, I had to witness the Suisse team slamming in another four point end, and when the Japanese skip Onodera shook hands with the opponents, I finally closed my eyes... at around five o'clock in the morning!!
悲しいことに、スイスチームがもう１エンド４点を叩き込むのを見ざるを得なくなり、日本のスキップの小野寺が相手と握手したとき、ようやく目をつぶった…朝の５時ぐらいに！！

It was really tough to make it to the 8:40AM press conference at NPA, but I made it on time, and I didn't take a nap today till I got home after 11PM! That's how I draw the lines between public and private!!
What!? But I'm watching the Games at my office!? C'mon! I work with the media!! It's my job to be a prudent watcher of each station sensing where all the enthusiasm is at this moment!
Not convinced? Ah, shut up!!
朝８時４０分の警察庁での記者会見に出るのは本当に辛かったが、遅刻せずに行けたし、夜１１時以降に家に着くまで居眠りもしなかった！それが公私の区別を付けるってもんだ！！
え！？でも俺はいつも仕事場でオリンピックを見てるって！？おいおい！俺はメディアで働いてるんだ！！各局を慎重に監視して、今この瞬間にどこに熱気があるのかを肌で感じるのは、俺の仕事なんやって！納得行かない？ああ、うるせー！！

Almost all the papers had pictures of the Curling girls on the top page, and every station with feature sections about their story on news programs and "wide-shows" (magazine shows on television).
各紙ほとんどが１面にカーリングの女のコたちの写真を入れていた。各局も彼女たちのストーリーをニュース番組の特集やワイドショーで取り上げていた。

TEAM AOMORI won the highest praise even on Nikkan Gendai, well known for only writing articles with severe criticism!!
you can see how their sky-high praised article is surrounded by stories about athletes completely denounced because of their unsatisfactory results...
写真：チーム青森は厳しい批判記事しか書かないと有名な日刊ゲンダイにさえ最大の賛辞が送られていた！！
彼女たちを最大限に持ち上げた記事が期待はずれの結果を残してボロカスに言われている選手たちの記事に囲まれているのが分かるっしょ…

Will this enthusiasm continue!?
...I doubt it, because the Japanese are so fast in cooling down.
And this all may well have been helped by the tumble and stumble by the others...
I hope they will be well supported till Vancouver!!

…そうはならないと思うけど。日本人は冷めるのも早いから。
そしてこれも全部、他の選手たちが相次いで失敗したことに助けられたことなんだろうから…。
バンクーバーまできっちり支えられることを期待したいね！！
