Many of my colleagues are making their living covering the scandal over a corrupt architect's falsification of quake-resistance data for condominiums and hotels.
And the others left over like me just looks enviously to them losing our way into the largest fete to participate, as a member of the social department.
I always have told the younger to try as hard as to participate in fetes, whether it's about sad stories about crimes and accidents or helpless tales of disasters and misunderstandings.

俺みたいに残された人間は、妬むように彼らを見るしかない。社会部の一員として、一番でっかい祭りに参加することに失敗しただけに。
後輩にはいつも祭りには参加できるようにできるだけ頑張るように（×英語間違えあり）言ってきた。犯罪や事故のような悲しい話だろうが、災害や行き違いのような救いようのない話だろうが。
