Which way are we going?

タイトル：どっちの方向に向かうんだろう？

I slept for hours to take away all the fatigue, and I woke up at around 4 in the evening as the flash news about the new DPJ leader being elected came into my mobile phone.

It was quite late already when I got to the hoops and 20 minutes was all I could play...

already dark at 6:15 PM... washing my dearly partner in my bathtub!

すべての疲れを取るために何時間も寝た。そして夕方４時頃に民主党の代表が決まったという速報が携帯に入ってきて、ようやく目が覚めた。

バスケコートに辿り着いた頃はすでに遅くなっていて、２０分しかできなかった…。

I went to my office to finish my job for our labor union.
Working on subjects like our child care plans and safety rules at scenes like disasters and catastrophes. It's so worthwhile to talk about how we can make a better working environment. Especially for reporters who would sacrifice ANYTHING for their children and their precious family members... Our goal is not to let them SACRIFICE. We will someday reach a world where fathers and mothers will work without sacrificing their private lives... Of course, for reporters too!

組合の仕事を片づけるために職場に行った。
育児制度や災害や大惨事などの現場での安全管理といった課題に取り組んだ。よりよい職場環境を作るために話し合うことは有意義だ。特に子供や大切な家族の ために何でも犠牲にしてしまう記者にとって…。目標は何も犠牲にしないようにすることだ。いつかはお父さんもお母さんもプライベートライフを犠牲にせずに 働くことができる世の中に辿り着くだろう…。勿論、記者にとっても！


DPJ's new leader, Seiji Maehara is the first ever politician I voted on when I finally became a member of the electorate as a college boy living in Kyoto.
In this general election, he was a member of the JNP (Japan New Party) and I purely hoped for his success as a politician. I knew nothing of politics then, but it was an easy choice as he was a senior graduate from the seminar of int'l politics I was attending at Kyoto University.
The DPJ has chosen a rightist leader. Which way will the party I support go?

民主党の新代表、前原誠二氏は京都の大学生のときにようやく有権者になって初めて投票した政治家だ。
このときの総選挙では、日本新党に所属していたが、政治家としての成功を純粋に期待したものだ。その頃は政治のことは全く分からなかったが、京大の政治学ゼミの先輩だったから難しい選択ではなかった。
民主党は右の代表を選んだ。自分が支持する政党はこれからどちらの方向へ進むのだろうか？

　って海外の大学に行ったことが
　無いんで、実はよく分からないんですが、
　まぁ、このseminarが一番しっくり
　くるんでしょうか。
　亡くなった高坂先生は、
　教え子の前原さんが民主代表になって
　どう思っているだろうか。
　これでようやく保保の２大政党時代に
　堂々と向かう道筋ができたのだろうか。
　民主党内の左の勢力やその他の野党の
　動きも気になるところだ。
