A hot summer day in Tokyo!

The temperature rose to 33.3 degrees today, but I went along to ride my mountain bike to a ride.
I decided to wander today looking for discount airline tickets, as I'm planning to take my mom and dad to a Hokkaido trip next week for summer vacation.
After stopping by Shibuya and Shinjuku, I decided to head for Kanda to search for discount ticket shops.

As I rode through the Yasukuni Avenue, I recalled yesterday night's special program I saw about the Yasukuni Shrine, and decided to step by the religious site. This shrine is now in the middle of controversy as the public is split in half on the topic of having the Prime Minister visiting the shrine. Whether it should be a part of a governmental affair, or whether it should be private. Whether it should be done or not in the first place. With the war criminals enshrined as gods here, the Asian neighbors have always shown their disappointments to the visiting by politicians. Whether we let the PM visit this shrine or not, now is linked with which way our country will head to, having influences on our international position in the world and our future as a war-renouncing country.

After seeing yesterday's and today's programs I realized how much more I have to study to be able to sort out my mind about what I think of my country's future. It's not just about the Yasukuni Shrine, as we approach the 60th anniversary of the end of the War tomorrow. I've picked up some books to read for this summer to help the enrichment to build my thesis so I can talk it over with colleagues!!

so where else to go? ...you know where, right!? and only winning one race... uhh...
back to Shinjuku. bought some books to read over the summer... ahh... something constructive!

きょうは気温が３３度３分まで上がったけど、マウンテンバイクに乗って走り回った。
きょうは割引航空券を探す旅に出掛けることにした。来週、夏休みで親父とおかんを北海道に連れて行ったろうと計画してるもんで。
渋谷と新宿に寄ってから、割引チケット売り場を探そうと神田に向かうことにした。

靖 国通りを走っていると、昨夜の靖国神社の特番のことを思い出して、その宗教の現場に寄ることにした。この神社は論議の真っ只中にある。国民が首相の参拝 をするべきかどうかで意見が真っ二つに分かれているのだ。公的な行事の一部とするべきか、私的であるべきか。そもそも行われるべきなのかどうか。戦犯がこ こに祀られているため、アジアの隣人たちは政治家の参拝に不快感を示してきた。首相に参拝を認めるかどうかは、この国がどっちの方向に向かうのかと密接な つながりがある。世界の中の私たちの国際的な立場と戦争を放棄した国としての将来に影響があるのだ。

昨 日と今日の番組を見て、自分の国の将来についてどう考えるのか整理できるように、もっともっと勉強しないといけないと実感した。明日、終戦から６０周年 を迎えるだけに靖国神社のことだけじゃない。同僚たちとも話し合いができるように、自分なりのテーゼをまとめようと、知識を高める助けになりそうな本を幾 つか選んで、今夏読むことにした！
写真：靖国神社に寄ってから、神田に行ったら、店は全部閉まっていた…。うー…。
他に行くところは？…どこか分かってるくせに、ね！？結局勝ったのは１レースだけ…。うー…。
新宿に戻って。夏に読もうと幾つかの本を買った…。あー…、一応、建設的！

　戦争をしないで国際的な責任を負える国に
　真になれるかどうかは、これからどれだけ
　成熟した態度を取れるかにかかっている。
