Long live baseball!!

Kiyohara hits his 510th homer tying the great Hiromitsu Ochiai ...Tigers' catcher Yano hits a game winning one knocking in two runs leading to the sixth straight victory for the team!!

With the world still terrified from yesterday's blasts at London, two sports that no Englishman could care of have been announced to be cut from the program of the London Games in 2012.
Baseball for men and softball for women will not be played in the 2012 Summer Games (http://www.olympic.org/uk/news/events/117_session/full_story_uk.asp?id=1417) spoiling the start of an international year for baseball as we're going to see the first ever professional baseball world tournament next March (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2057633).
I've never seen cricket, but many countries of the Commonwealth like Canada and Australia play baseball and a variety of talents from many countries participate in the Major Leagues.
I must admit baseball hasn't maintained its popularity in Japan, as the number of audiences at stadiums and in front of TVs have dropped this decade as attractive players have fled to the States to fulfill their dreams in the big leagues. But many still talk about and support the sport, and we still have sports papers sparing their front pages for baseball.
I'm not a good baseball player at all, but have always been a big fan of the Hanshin Tigers and many teams of the MLB like the LA Dodgers and the two SF bay area teams.
Our enthusiasm have been badly trimmed... but who is to blame here??

ロンドンの爆発事件で世界がまだ恐怖におののいている中、どのイングランド人も興味がない２つのスポーツが２０１２年のロンドンオリンピックの種目から削られると発表された。
男子の野球と女子のソフトボールの試合が２０１２年の夏季オリンピックで行われることはない（国際オリンピック協会の発表ＵＲＬ）、来年３月に初めてのプロ野球の世界選手権を見ることができる野球の国際的な年の始まりを台無しにして（世界選手権開催についてのＵＲＬ）。
クリケットは見たことがにないが、カナダやオーストラリアのようにイギリス連邦の多くの国が野球の試合をしているし、たくさんの国からの多様な才能がメジャーリーグに参加している。
日本では野球がその人気を 保ってないことは認めざるを得ない。この１０年で球場の観客動員数やテレビの前の視聴者の数は落ち込んでいる。魅力的な選手たちが大リーグでの夢を叶える ためにアメリカに飛んでいるから。でもまだ多くの人たちがこのスポーツのことを話して、支持している。スポーツ紙も１面を野球に割いている。
俺は野球は上手くないけど、ずっと阪神タイガースやロサンゼルス・ドジャースやサンフランシスコのベイエリアの２チームのようなメジャーリーグチームの大ファンだ。
俺たちの熱意も大きく削がれた…誰が悪いんだ？？

　真面目に考えてもらわないと行けないかもね。
