Yafoo!? Yahoo!?

In the afternoon, a sudden change took me right in front of the most artificial building in Tokyo, the Roppongi Hills.
I was there to interview the person in charge at Yahoo! Japan to ask about a first ever arrest made over "phishing". (From wikipedia see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing) The phishing's trick was simple. Using "Yafoo!" instead of "Yahoo!" to lure the innocents to type their IDs and passwords and stealing them. The trick was considered a breaking of the copyright law as copying designs and icons of the true site was completely illegal. Yahoo! Japan has valued this arrest a breakthrough as it was hard to expose such tricks if their were no serious loss of money or some kind of damage.
...I'm not sure if I'm doing fine managing my IDs and passwords, but at least I'll notice that "Yafoo!" ain't "Yahoo!" (the pronunciation becomes the same in Japanese, "yahoo" is pronounced much like "yafoo" in Japanese) But there are much more complicated tricks in the internet world. I've even heard that "security lock icons" can be easily counterfeited! What can we believe then!?

午後に入って事態は急転。東京で最も人工的な建築物、六本木ヒルズの前に姿を現すことになった。

フィッ シングのからくりは簡単だった。「Ｙａｈｏｏ！」じゃなくて「Ｙａｆｏｏ！」ってロゴを使って、罪のない人を引き付けてＩＤやパスワードを入力させ て盗む。このからくりが著作権法違反だとみなされた。ほんまもんのサイトのデザインやアイコンを真似るのは完全に違法だからだ。ヤフージャパンは今回の逮 捕劇を画期的だと評価した。お金を大量に失ったり、何らかの損害がないとこうしたからくりを摘発するのは難しかったからだ。
…自分のＩＤやパス ワードがちゃんと管理できているのか自信を持って言えないが、「Ｙａｆｏｏ！」が「Ｙａｆｏｏ！」じゃないってことぐらいは分かる。 （日本語では発音が一緒になってしまう。「ｙａｈｏｏ」は日本語では「ｙａｆｏｏ」のように発音される）でも、ネットの世界にはもっと複雑なからくりがた くさんある。「セキュリティーロックのアイコン」でさえ簡単に偽造できるそうだ！じゃあ、何を信じればいいんだ！？
