Election coming up!

I finally started to take part in preparing for the upcoming election for the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly.
With 127 seats in 42 electoral districts, the race among 220 candidates is at a level to think a little "national" though it may not be rational to think so.
But since we're going to use a lot of effort, we want the election reports to get as much attention as it can and broadcasting the results of the election needs the manpower close to a national election!

Four years ago, when I was one of the reporters covering the east area of Tokyo, Koizumi routed the DPJ as there was a frenzy kind of excitement each time the new PM stopped by. Every word the brand new leader said, had cast a spell on the audience and the LDP won 53 out of 127 seats compared to 22 of the DPJ. Now the situation is completely different!
The PM is not as popular anymore and Shintaro Ishihara, the former LDP power and the present almighty Governor of Tokyo is not participating in the campaigns. The attention will be in low figures, but it will certainly be a match race between the two parties!
The question is... will the result be synchronized with the national level!? Let us see!

来たる東京都議会選挙に向けて、とうとう準備を始めた。
４２選挙区の１２７議席のために、２２０の候補者が争うレースは、ちょびっとだけ全国レベルで考えても良いレベルだ。そう考える合理的な理由も無いかも知れないが。
でもどうせすごく力を入れるんなら、選挙リポートが少しでも多くの注目を集めて欲しいと思う。選挙結果を放送するのって国政選挙並みのマンパワーが必要なんだから！

東京の東部を担当する記者の一人だった４年前、小泉が民主党に圧勝した。その時は新しい首相が立ち止まるたびに狂ったような興奮があった。新しくなったば かりのリーダーが何を言っても観客に魔法がかかったような状態になり、自民党は１２７議席中５３を確保した。民主党は２２議席だった。現在、全く違う状況 になっている！
首相はもうそれほど人気はないし、元自民の実力者で全能の現東京都知事の石原慎太郎は選挙活動に参加していない。注目度は低いが、２つの政党のマッチレースになることは間違いない。
問題は…国政レベルと結果がシンクロするかどうかだ！？ま、見ていくとしよう。
