from Kool & the Gang's very best!

Tonight I saw a superb 30 minute documentary I've recorded in my hard disc player.
It was about a novelist, Tsutomu Mizukami who died last fall at the age of 85. The program which was aired last Wednesday on NHK, consisted of his latter years after he starts suffering from a disease taking away his freedom to move and even write. Delusions caused by depression and loneliness that he's never experienced almost takes his spirit away until he reaches a rehabilitation hospital. There he sees the vitality of the patients trying to take back their life by moving any parts of their body they have left. The novelist eventually realizes how important it is to live the life now, and starts to become hale and hearty, finishing off his lifework piece of literature...
I've never read any of his books to be so sympathetic, and I'm not too old yet to worry about death or so gifted to leave anything behind like he did. But I totally agree to his awakening to cherish the life now as we live it this very moment. I remembered feeling the same way years ago listening to this song...
Cherish by R. Bell / J. Taylor (Kool & the Gang 1985)
Let's take a walk together near the ocean shore
Hand in hand, you and I
Let's cherish every moment we have been given
The time is passing by
I often pray before I lay down by your side
If you receive your calling before I awake,
Could I make it through the night?
Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the love Cherish the life Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love Cherish the life Cherish the love
The world is always changing, nothing stays the same
But love will stand the test of time
The next life that we live in remains to be seen
Will you be by my side?
I often pray before I lay down by your side
If you receive your calling before I awake,
Could I make it through the night?
Cherish the love we have
We should cherish the life we live
Cherish the love Cherish the life Cherish the love
Cherish the love we have
For as long as we both shall live
Cherish the love Cherish the life Cherish the love
Cherish the love Cherish the life
Beginning of a new month. Let's roll!!
