Kobe
Tommorow will be the last day of the conference in the beautiful city of Kobe.
I wish I was here with a date, but just making round-trips to the man-made island, Port Island from the hotel in Harborland in the west of Central Kobe, is not what I dreamed of. It's more than beautiful here not because of the port of Kobe and the Rokko mountains behind them, but for the numberous selections of food satisfying our appetites and entertainment with mixed cultures founded years ago.
Just like Yokohama is for the greater Kanto area with Tokyo in the center, Kobe is the pearl of the great Kansai area. The heartful business city of Osaka in the middle with Kyoto and Nara, the center of cultural treasures for centuries on the northern and eastern area.
Next time I sure hope I'll be here with a date!!

美しい街、神戸での会議もあすで最後の日を迎える。
ここに女の子と来られたら良かったんだけど、人工島の ポートアイランドと神戸の中心にあるハーバーランドのホテルと行き来するだけの毎日は夢見たこととはかけ離れている。ここは、神戸港や後ろにそびえる六甲 山のために美しいだけでなく、数々のそそられる食べ物や異文化が混ざり合ったエンターテインメントが何年も前からあるところだ。

東京が中心にある関東地方にとっての横浜のように、神戸は関西地方にとっての真珠のようなところだ。元気いっぱいの経済都市の大阪が中心にあり、数百年も文化の中心である京都と奈良が北と東にある。
次来るときは女の子と来たいもんだね！！

　神戸はポートアイランドのような人工島がたくさんある。
　というか、日本の沿岸の街はたくさんある。
　これがまた災害に弱いところでもあるんだけど、
　そこで防災会議をやってるんだから、面白いよね。
　震災のあとにはたくさん仮設住宅が出来たところとしても
　知られている。
